It is estimated that some three million people would like to come to church on a Sunday if only they were invited.
To make it easier for them, local churches are encouraged to invite family members, friends and neighbours, whom they know to be reluctant to come on their own, by personal invitation and when they respond make them feel very welcome by giving them a special “welcome”.
Duckpool road Baptist church will join many other churches in doing just that on Sunday 25th September 2011 at their morning service at 10.30 am and evening service at 6.30 pm as part of ‘Back to Church Sunday’ – a national project which encourages churches to invite people to a service on one particular Sunday.
As a result of a similar initiative last year 550 Baptist churches welcomed 6,500 people to church for the first time. The follow-up survey revealed that about 28% of these have remained. Some churches saw up to 70 new people in one day and testimonies of conversion, baptism, weddings and people rediscovering faith as a direct result of this initiative.
