Children and young people are a vital part of our church family. So that’s why one of our highest priorities is to nurture, encourage and guide them to grow into young adults our community can be proud of… while making sure they have fun along the way! No matter where a young person is in their relationship with God, we feel it is important that they have a space where they can ask questions, be accepted and learn more about who they are.
Duckpool Road Baptist Church has a team of volunteers who work hard to teach, support and encourage young people; building relationships with them and acting as a positive role model. We aim to equip them in all areas of life, but especially with their faith. DRBC has a Child Protection Policy, based on the Baptist Union’s Safe to Grow document. All of our workers are DBS checked.
The children and young people meet and worship with the whole Church at 10:30am on Sunday and then after a time of worship they go to their own classes which are split in to age groups.
The activities provided are fun and varied. They include: age-appropriate stories, craft, games and songs. The aim is to help each child to get to know God and begin to develop a life of worship and prayer.
Everyone joins up again after the service in the Christian Centre for refreshments and relaxation.
Several times throughout the year, the church holds Family Services when all of the children and young people remain in the main church service, and often take part in the service.
Messy Church is a different way for families with young children to meet up, spend time together and experience faith. It is full of life and chatter. It is for the whole family to join together and have fun. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and children all mix together and are all welcome. It is a great time to for both adults and children to make new friends.
It is run every other Tuesday during term time, in the Christian Centre alongside the Church, from 3:30pm to 6:00pm. As you arrive there are loads of games to get involved in, then we all gather together for a Bible story and get ‘messy’ with lots of different craft activities. The children then sit down to enjoy a simple meal together.
We do not charge for this activity but we do welcome donations to cover the cost of the food if you are able.
Whether you are a mum, dad, granny, granddad, auntie, uncle or childminder, come along with your child. Meet other people looking after children and socialise, and allow your children to play in a safe environment. Refreshments are available.
We meet every Monday during term time, 9:10am to 11:00am.
Mother & Toddler groups give mothers/carers an opportunity to meet and make new friends and for the children to learn to mix and share. The leaders are always ready to talk things over and provide a listening ear. We do not know all the answers but as members of Duckpool Road Baptist Church, we are always willing to help whenever we can. At least once a year we all go on a day trip and recently visited Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm in Bristol.
