The Bottom Line
You wonder why we come to church and don’t just stay in bed,
Or why we give of our spare time and spend it here instead,
We’ll tell you it’s because our Lord for us gave up his life
So, that is why we come here. And that’s the bottom line.
You wonder why we put God first and in Him put our trust
Why give Him all the Glory and don’t keep some back for us
It’s ‘cause we didn’t make the world unlike this God of Mine,
That’s why we give Him glory. And that’s the bottom line.
You wonder how we dare to talk to such an awesome God,
When even to the folk outside we’re not a perfect lot,
It’s ‘cause the death of Jesus Christ was sentence for our crimes,
So that’s why we love Jesus. And that’s the bottom line.
You wonder why we talk with God in what we call a prayer,
Or why we always run to Him with problems we can’t bear,
The fact is He has promised us He’ll hear what’s on our minds
that’s why we’re always praying. And that’s the bottom line.
You wonder why we put such store in the Holy book,
Why ‘bible bashers’ like us try to change the world’s outlook,
It’s ‘cause we’ve found it’s true for us and valid for these times,
So that’s why we believe it. And that’s the bottom line.
You ask why we keep on about how much we love our lord,
And what it is about Him makes us want to tell the world,
The fact it’s God who loved us first you have to bear in mind
So that is why we love Him, And that’s the bottom line.
